Completed: Spring 2026
Client: Dekalb County & Purpose Possible
Scope of Work: Interactive Placemaking and Community Design
This mural was developed through a community engagement process designed to capture local priorities and values. Participants were invited to select three attributes and layer them visually to reflect their relative importance. Each contribution became part of a larger composition, creating a collective expression of how the community sees itself.
The completed mural highlights a strong emphasis on activity, connection, and shared experience. These themes appear consistently across contributions, indicating a desire for a neighborhood that supports movement, gathering, and everyday interaction. The mural serves as both a reflection of current identity and a guide for future investment, reinforcing the importance of spaces and programs that bring people together.
Conversations during the activity were often brief, but the level of care in how people made their selections stood out. Participants paused, rearranged, and reconsidered their choices as they built their layers. Even without extensive discussion, there was a shared understanding of what mattered, which comes through clearly in the final composition.
