Smokey Bear Airport Exhibition
AirportArt Smokey Bear Exhibition
Completed: Fall 2025
Client: Atlanta AirportArt program in partnership with the US Forestry Service
Scope of Work: Exhibition Design, Storytelling, and Production
I designed an airport exhibition that tells the history of Smokey Bear through the paintings of Rudy Wendelin. The exhibition was built for a fast-moving public space, so the design needed to work whether someone lingered or just passed through.
I created a clear visual timeline supported by display cases featuring original Smokey ephemera, helping connect the artwork to its broader cultural context. The goal was to make the story feel approachable and legible while honoring the craft and care behind decades of imagery that shaped how generations understand wildfire prevention.
Fun fact:
This exhibit won the Gold Smokey Bear Award in 2026. It’s the highest honor given to organizations, teams, or individuals for outstanding wildfire prevention service over at least a two-year period that is national in scope.
