It’s Friday, and here I am with another Friday Digest! As always, this is a must-read list for things I’ve either come across this week or rediscovered. Enjoy! And comment below with some stuff you’d like to share.
1. HIT CLIPS
I was recently out with some friends and tried to make a reference to the 90s by mentioning Hit Clips. I was met with confusion. “You don’t remember Hit Clips?” I asked. Everyone’s heads shook. Between the CD and the mp3 were hit clips. They were these little plastic squares that you’d plug into another plastic thing and play about 45 seconds of a hit song. They were all Destiny’s Child, N*Sync, Britney Spears, etc. I had the one for “Independent Woman,” among others. Sure, they were shitty and short and had bad audio, but they were portable in a whole new way! And that was awesome. Check this commercial: Don’t ever let the dream die. I want to bid on some of these on eBay for posterity.
2. Fork in the Garbage Disposal (0:13)
This video will only take 14 seconds of your life to watch, but will enrich it for at least 14,000 years. Great to pull out at your next dance party!
3. Late For Meeting (1:41)
Honestly not really sure if I should laugh at this video or have nightmares about it. But I have done both.
4. Grandpa’s Photos
Cool map thing alert! This guy found a ton of his grandfather’s old pictures taken throughout the years, and discovered the details had faded in time. He’s trying to put together a visual history of these pictures, identifying the locations and adding stories from the spot. Beautiful version of a collaborative memory map.
5. The Lowe’s Vine Feed
